Our Easter event is part of our yearly program designed to bring together individuals living with disabilities in a supportive and festive environment. We host fun-filled activities like egg hunts, craft workshops, music, and a shared meal, promoting connection and community spirit. It’s a time to reflect on renewal and hope, while ensuring everyone feels valued and included. Sorry Day (26th May)
At compassionate community care, we commemorate National Sorry Day with activities that promote awareness, reflection, and respect. We organise art and storytelling sessions where participants can learn about the history of the stolen generations and express their thoughts through creative mediums. Staff and participants engage in discussions about reconciliation and the importance of acknowledging past injustices. We display educational materials and invite guest speakers to share cultural insights and personal stories. This day is a meaningful part of our yearly program, encouraging empathy, understanding, and connection among our community in a supportive and inclusive environment.


Reconciliation Week (27th May - 3rd june)
At compassionate community care, we observe reconciliation week through meaningful activities that promote respect, unity, and cultural understanding. As part of our yearly program, we host interactive workshops, storytelling sessions, and cultural art projects that highlight the history and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We encourage open conversations about reconciliation, guided by educational resources and guest speakers from First Nations communities. Staff and participants collaborate to create art and displays reflecting this year’s theme. These activities foster learning, reflection, and a shared commitment to building stronger relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
1967 Referendum (27th May)
At compassionate community care, we recognise the significance of the 1967 referendum as a pivotal moment in Australia’s journey toward equality for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As part of our yearly program, we host educational sessions to explore the history and impact of the vote that allowed First Nations people to be counted in the census and gave the federal government power to make laws for them. Participants engage in discussions, watch documentaries, and contribute to poster-making activities that reflect on the progress since 1967 and the ongoing path toward justice and reconciliation.


Mabo Decision (3rd June)
At compassionate community care, we honour the Mabo Decision as a landmark moment in australian history that recognised native title and overturned the myth of terra nullius. As part of our yearly program, we organise educational activities where participants learn about eddie mabo’s legacy and the significance of the 1992 high court ruling. We host film screenings, group discussions, and creative projects that reflect on land rights and cultural identity. These sessions encourage awareness and appreciation of first nations history, while promoting respectful dialogue about justice, recognition, and the continuing importance of land to aboriginal and torres strait islander peoples.
Christmas (25th December)
At compassionate community care, we celebrate christmas as a time of joy, togetherness, and community spirit. As part of our yearly program, we organise a festive gathering that includes music, decorations, a shared meal, and gift-giving activities tailored to our participants’ needs. We create a warm and welcoming environment with inclusive celebrations, ensuring everyone feels involved regardless of background or ability. Participants enjoy craft sessions, Christmas card making, and themed games that encourage creativity and social connection. This special event brings smiles and a sense of belonging, highlighting the importance of kindness, celebration, and shared experiences during the holiday season.
