Short Term Accommodation (STA) — Compassionate Community Care
All Services Compassionate Community Care Service

Short Term Accommodation and respite in Cairns.

Short stays with support — planned respite, trial stays before a longer arrangement, and bridging accommodation when something has fallen through.

Stay Length

From a night through to the funded STA limit.

Includes

Accommodation, support, meals and activities during the stay.

Purpose

Respite, trial stays, bridging accommodation and emergencies.

Availability

STA is part of our current capacity, subject to assessment.

Service overview

Three different jobs, all funded as STA.

Families use STA for a break. Support Coordinators use it as a trial before committing to a SIL placement. And everyone uses it when something has gone wrong and a participant needs somewhere safe for a fortnight. They are very different jobs and we plan for each one differently.

A respite stay should feel like a good week away. A trial stay should generate real information about whether a longer arrangement would work. A bridging stay should be stable and calm while the next step gets sorted. We will ask which one you are after.
